Made with industry-leading NEX® Rubberized Asphalt
The Malarky Difference
Performance, Sustainability, Style
Malarkey offers shingles in the industry’s most popular styles. All are made with our industry-leading NEX® Polymer Modified (Rubberized) Asphalt for greater durability, upcycled rubber and plastics to reduce landfill waste, and smog-reducing granules that help clean the air. That’s a Malarkey shingle!
Architectural Shingles
Architectural shingles, sometimes called laminate shingles, utilize a dual-layer construction which gives them weight and strength to better withstand extreme weather, as well as added roof dimension for overall curb appeal.
Designer Shingles
Designer shingles feature a dual-layer construction formed in a cedar shake pattern. They are larger, heavier, and stronger than architectural shingles for maximum weather performance and heightened roof dimension for enhanced curb appeal.
Impact and Weather Resistance
Protected by a heavy-weight fiberglass roof coating, Fisher Construction asphalt roofing shingles carry a Class 3 impact resistance rating that allows them to easily withstand hailstones 1.75 inches in diameter.
Energy Savings
Fisher Construction metal roofs provide insulation from the elements, keeping your air conditioning and heating inside and protecting you from the elements outside.
Backed by a Warranty
Roofs work better when the parts work together. A complete new roof requires 5 components – shingles, underlayment, ice & water barrier, starter shingles, and hip & ridge shingles. If your roof is installed by a Malarkey Certified Contractor, who also uses the above Malarkey accessories as a part of a complete roof system, your roof is eligible for extended warranty coverage.

UNIQUE FACTS
Recycled content can sometimes diminish product quality. Not so with our shingles. Polymers from upcycled tires and plastic bags are added to our asphalt formulation to improve shingle strength and durability, while reducing landfill waste – extending product life and landfill life.
Each average-sized roof of Legacy® Scotchgard™ shingles diverts the equivalent of ~6 tires and ~4,000 plastic bags from the landfill.
Six bonds (3 laminate, 2 rain, 1 wind) of synthetic rubber adhesive resist dry-out and deliver extreme protection from high-winds, wind-driven rain, and shingle delamination.
Legacy® Scotchgard™ shingles have up to 50% more adhesive bonds and twice the rain seals of standard shingles.
It takes over 7000 nails to install a roof. Even one out of place can lead to leaks or void a wind warranty. The Zone®, our patented larger nailing area, provides a bigger nailing target and longer shingle backing to help ensure that every nail hits and penetrates both shingle layers for maximum protection against shingle uplift and blow-off, as well as leaks from troughing and ice damming.
The Zone® is up to 2X larger than the nailing area on standard shingles.
Ceramic-coated 3M™ Roofing Granules add lasting color vibrancy, while our NEX asphalt technology dramatically enhances granule retention – the shingle’s primary defense against hail, scuffing, and the aging effects of UV sunlight.
Legacy® Scotchgard™ shingles have up to 65% greater granule retention than the industry standard specification (ASTM D3462).
3M™ Smog-Reducing Granules, which blend inconspicuously into the shingle’s color, harness sunlight to photocatalytically convert dangerous smog gases like nitrogen dioxide (NO2) into water-soluble salt ions that rinse off the roof with rainwater, actively cleaning the air of these emission-based pollutants.
Each average-sized roof of Legacy® Scotchgard™ shingles helps fight smog air pollution equivalent to planting ~2 trees.
Algae-resistant 3M™ Copper Granules blend inconspicuously into the shingle’s color and help prevent unsightly black streaks caused by algae growth.
Legacy® Scotchgard™ shingles feature Scotchgard™ Protector which utilizes at least 10% 3M™ Copper Granules, and come with a limited lifetime algae warranty.
Shingles are sold in ‘squares’ which is the number of shingles required to cover 100 square feet of roof. Many manufacturers package their shingles to deliver only 97-99% of a square, in effect underdelivering/overcharging from 1-3% of the product.
Legacy® Scotchgard™ shingles are packaged to deliver a full square, with 4 bundles equaling 100 square feet of roof coverage.
At Malarkey, we strive to make shingles that don’t need warranties, but just in case, we offer standard and extended shingle warranties, or our innovative ‘Your Choice’ warranty where we’ll match a competitor’s standard warranty.
Secure Choice™ 5-Part Roof System
There's more to a new roof than shingles…a lot more.
01
Ice & Water Barrier
Extra protection for leak prone areas. Some areas of the roof are more prone to leaks than others, like roof valleys, roof edges, and roof-to-sidewall transitions where rain, snow, and ice are more apt to accumulate. In these critical areas, Malarkey recommends an initial, extra layer of protection, called an ice and water barrier.
02
Underlayment
We adhere to the highest industry standards when selecting our products. Whether you opt for metal or asphalt roofing, your home is safeguarded under a Fisher Construction roof.
03
Starter Shingles
The first row of shingles fortifies the rest. Starter shingles, placed at the eave and rake edges of the roof, are made with enhanced sealant and a modified size designed to extend up beyond the fastening point of the first course of shingles to fortify these more vulnerable shingles against wind uplift, shingle blow-up, and moisture migration.
04
Roofing (Field) Shingles
Shingles add color, style, and roof protection. Roofing shingles, sometimes called field shingles, sit atop the underlayment and starter shingles. Field shingles add color and style, and most importantly, protect the roof from the elements.
05
Hip & Ridge Shingles
Added protection and dimension at roof peaks. The highest point on the roof is called the ridge, the others are called hips. These high points can often experience greater damage from events like hail and debris. Hip and ridge shingles provide extra impact protection, as well as extra roof dimension for curb appeal, at these more vulnerable, visible areas.
